Yesterday was supposed to be a fun family day, but it turned sour when my daughter-in-law refused to take a photo with me. Why? Because I was wearing shorts. She actually had the nerve to tell me that I “should never wear shorts, even in summer because your wrinkled legs scare me.”
I was stunned and honestly hurt by her harsh words. But what surprised me even more was how my sweet granddaughter stood up for me. She looked right at her mom and said, “Nana looks great, and she can wear whatever she wants!”
It’s sad that we live in a world where even family can be so judgmental about your appearance. But I’m so proud of my granddaughter for seeing the real me and not caring about silly, outdated opinions.
Has anyone else dealt with family members trying to police your wardrobe? How do you handle it?
